Recently for one of my classes this summer i chose to write a small report on photography censorship in the media. I got thinking of how much advertisements and media have change in the past decade and how much people have been desensitized to what they are seeing. Ten or Fifteen years ago a picture like this would spark controversy, now although people are still shocked to see something like that they are understanding its art and let it go. Personally i think that most nudity or sexual content in high fashion magazines and advertisements are tasteful and just cause for that they are trying to sell…as long as there in good taste.

Thats another issue about censorship in the media, is that everyone has there own view on what the acceptable “norm” is to the public. The corporations are pushing sex to such young age groups causing the “concerns parents” to over react and cause photographers to not be able to express themselves the way they want to. But even with rules and regulations on what photographers can and can not do most still manage to get there work out there wether its in a editorial magazine or there personal blog.

Decided to do some research on copyrights and tracking your images through stock sites and metadata tracking . Found some great links for companies that offer products for professional photographers and designers. My pick would be Digimarc because of there reliability and reviews. You should also check out ImagIRC as they offer the same services but slightly less known.

Another Monday

After a beautiful weekend of fun with friends…it is time to get some work done this week. Last tuesday i went with my trends and issues class to CONTACT, a photography festival downtown Toronto where many gallerys host new photograpy shows and interesting workshops are given to anyone who attends. Here are a couple photos i shot while walking the streets of toronto, theres no significant theme just things i found interesting.

I was helping out Esther a couple weeks ago with a video project she was doing, I got to take some shots inbetween takes and got some good poses. This one I didn’t to much editing to in Photoshop but decided to work with Light Room 3 BETA to see what it could do. Although i still need much practise with Lightroom i managed to work with it and get something very interesting. let me know what you think.

Found this post on twitter, gives a small interesting tutorial on how to increase your depth of field using stacking in a new program called CombineZM . Im going to try it next time i need it so im not sure if the dowload works yet but try it out for yourself and let me know with your comments.

Summer is coming!…I hope

Although the weather here in Canada changes every 2 days, summer is just around the corner and that means alot more picture opportunities! I will be trying to post a couple times a week with new pictures and links to interesting trends in the photography industry.

My lattest shoot was for Llama a clothing company based out of North Bay Ontario, i did a shoot for a design that will be on a new tshirt in there new fall line of clothing. Sample pictures comming soon!
